Casio has made plans to ship out three brand new digital cameras in October of this year. Both the 9 magpie EX-Z250 and the 10 mega pixel Exilim EX-Z300 will incorporate the third generation of Casio’s Exilim Engine image processor. This new engine allows the cameras to correct for low light automatically or over exposed scenes and helps to power a new “make-up” feature that retouches faces in a photograph.
Buyers will be able to choose to retouch the face on a scale of 1-12 depending on what is weak and what is strong. This will help them to preview the effect on the camera’s LCD. Both of the cameras will offer a 4x optical, 28mmzoom lens, CCD shifting image stabilization, and a 3” LCD, and H.264 format video recording. The EX-Z250 costs $249 and will be available in black and silver.
The Z300, for $299, adds 1,280 by 720 HD video recording, and a new multiple shot mode, which will take a series of photos of a moving subject (at 3 megapixels) and combine them into a single photo. It will be available in pink, black, and silver.
The 9-megapixel EX-Z85 will retail for $179 and come in brown and orange. It features a 3x optical zoom lens and a 2.6-inch LCD screen. Additional features include face detection, an auto shutter function that will only record an image when the camera stops shaking, and a customizable menu screen and focus frames.
